Try catalogues such as Itsme or one of others where you pay monthly. Friend did this and built up her credit rating.

First make sure you are financially stable:
    - Have a checking account in place
    - Have stable employment
Full time for at least 6 full months.
    - Have a savings account in place in case of an emergency.

Then… try a credit card. If you still get turned down, consider a
Secured Card or a Secured Loan from your bank.

You can begin by not applying for ny more credit cards. Each one will be on your credit report and it will show that you have been turned down. You must have lived at a permanent address for 3 yrs.Your name on the electoral roll with no defaults on your record. You can write to the credit agencies,it will cost you £2 each and see what is on your records. You cannot get your record on-line if you have no credit/debit card.At 40% interest you do not want one of those anyway.
